Apprentice Poetry Residencies

Ilkley Literature Festival’s Apprentice Poet in Residence role is an opportunity for a talented emerging poet at the start of their career, based in the North of England.

In 2019, ILF had two Apprentice Poets in Residence, Genevieve Carver and Shash Trevett. Both spoke and performed at ILF 2019 at an event entitled ‘On the Rise: New Yorkshire Poets’. Shash Trevett

Shash Trevett is a Tamil from Sri Lanka who draws on her personal experiences of civil war in her work.

Genevieve Carver

Genevieve Carver is a poet and spoken word performer whose first collection, A Beautiful Way to be Crazy, was published by Verve Poetry Press in 2020.
