Help us celebrate 50 years and look forward to #ILF50Moor

It’s hard to believe that it has been almost half a century since the first Ilkley Literature Festival took place in 1973.

In 50 years, what began as the humble workings of local volunteers and literature enthusiasts has grown into a nationally renowned two-week annual festival featuring emerging and canonical authors, as well as a year-round programme of workshops, events for children and young people, commissions, competitions, fringe festivals, and so much more.

“a wonderful, friendly, magical festival” – Brian Bilston

As we reach this milestone, we have exciting plans to commemorate our anniversary, including two new commissions: one with our dear friend and Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and one with the exceptional folk at the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Stay tuned for more info about our plans for 2023!

But to celebrate the past 50 years and to ensure we survive “50 moor”, we need your help. Over the next few months, we are hoping to raise £50,000.
